Hello, Rams!

First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who put up this great Web site, and to express my regrets for missing the latest class of ‘67 reunion!

My name was Rob Rubinowitz back in those days of innocence and promise. After my mom passed away I changed my last name to “Rubin” because no one could ever seem to figure out how to pronounce “Rubinowitz”.

After graduation, I attended ASU for three semesters before dropping out. (I skipped Dr. Timothy Leary’s other advice to “tune in” and “turn on”, but I did drop out of college for two years.) I went back in 1971, this time to The City College of New York, after moving back to New York City, where I am originally from. I graduated with a BA in Math, and went on for an additional year of graduate study at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After that, I began a 30-year career in computer science, beginning as a programmer, then a software engineering manager and finally retiring, in 2011, from The McGraw-Hill Companies as Vice President of Enterprise Technology.

I have many happy memories of Washington High, and would like to say hello to Scott Larson, David Gordon, Dale Childs, Mike Pinneo, Jim Elliot, Rob Coombs, and Karen Rolnick. I felt very, very sad to see John Engstrom Karen Blaser’s names among the deceased. May their memory be a blessing forever!

I have attached a recent photograph of me and my wonderful doctor, Divya Koura, who successfully treated me for multiple myeloma, a rare blood disorder.

These days I live in Palm Springs, California (which gets even hotter during the summer than Phoenix!) with my partner, Thom Billadeau. We have been together for 40 years.

Again, I am so sorry to have missed the reunion, and I do hope that I can be lucky enough to attend a future one!

I wish everyone happiness, good health, and all the best!
